The people who volunteer at CCA come from all walks of life and from many different economic circumstances. They span a wide range of age levels—from teens (still in school) to seniors, include both men and women, who are still in the work force or retired. All are committed to carrying out CCA’s mission in South Norwalk.
Some volunteers work weekly at the food pantry while others help occasionally as substitutes. Many volunteers choose to help out during certain annual events, including the Postal Workers Food Drive, the Gift of Giving, and Make a Difference Day.
Can you help? Here are some ways you could help us help those in need:
- Volunteer in our food pantry
- Organize a food collection drive (or kitchenwares or children’s books) at your church or at work
- Volunteer with donated furniture pick up and deliveries
- Organize a fundraiser to benefit CCA programs
- Make a financial donation

The food pantry, which is opened five days a week, from Monday through Friday, is manned entirely by volunteers and requires the greatest number of workers. The hours of participation are from 9:30 a.m. to noon. There are at least two volunteers assigned each day and often times there are three or more.
Volunteers interact directly with food clients, gathering and bagging food for each one. Workers also help stock the pantry shelves and accommodate requests for household items.
