Kitchen Wares
CCA’s kitchen wares program works hand-in-hand with the food pantry. When clients visit the pantry, they can access almost any item they see on the kitchen ware shelves. Clients can select from an array of kitchen items, including pots, pans, glasses, plates, utensils, service ware and much more. Occasionally CCA receives small appliances such as toasters, coffee makers, blenders, and crock-pots. CCA distributes more than 1,000 items each year.
New Mattress Program
CCA also distributes brand new mattresses, box springs, and bed frames to children of CCA clients who lack proper sleeping accommodations. When possible, new bed linens are also provided. Approximately 30 bed sets are distributed each year.
Open Books, Open Minds
As a way of encouraging a love of reading in young children, CCA distributes about 6,000 children’s books a year through their “Open Books, Open Minds” program. When parents come to the pantry for food, they can select a number of books for their children from a book bin placed outside the pantry. Each year, CCA receives gently-used books from individuals, schools, and various organizations.
Camp Opportunities
Over the years, CCA has also provided camp opportunities to client children.
Helpful News Board
Board CCA provides information to individuals and families on a variety of local topics, including local and government services, pre-school opportunities as well as other educational opportunities. When available, we also provide passes to local museums.
Conversational English
To help non-English-speaking clients, CCA holds conversational English classes that are led by a volunteer teacher twice a week.
